Privacy Policy

Supper is a shared household cookbook app. This policy describes what data the app handles and how.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed), used only to sign you in.
- Your content: recipes you save (links, page text and photos you capture), cover photos, cook-log entries and notes, meal plans and your buy list, chat messages with the in-app cooking assistant, and household membership. Content is shared with the other members of your household — that's the point of the app.
- Tastes: optional names, diets, spice preferences, dislikes and food allergies you enter for household members, used only to tailor suggestions. Allergy information is health-related, and some diets (such as halal or kosher) can reflect religious practice; enter only what you're comfortable storing, and remove it any time.
How it's processed
- Data is stored with Supabase (hosted in Canada).
- Captured recipe content (page text, photos of recipes), your household's tastes, and chat messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to transcribe recipes, suggest dishes, and power the cooking assistant. The app asks for your permission before any content is shared with this AI service, and you can turn AI features off at any time. Anthropic's API does not train on this data by default.
Shared recipe links
Recipes are private to your household. If you tap Share on a recipe, Supper creates a public link that anyone with the link can view (the recipe, its cover photo, and your household's name). For recipes saved from another website or video, shared pages show the ingredients and link to the original creator for the method.
Friend kitchens
You can become friends with other households by exchanging friend codes. Friends see your kitchen's name and emoji, and only the recipes your household chooses to share (nothing by default) — never your notes, cooking history, tastes, or member emails. If you report a friend's recipe, we store the report (who reported it, which recipe, and the reason) so we can review it. See the community guidelines.
Cooks, drools and clubs
When you log a cook you can add a photo, and optionally post it. Posted cooks (the photo, your caption, the recipe, how long it took, and the first name or kitchen name of the cook) are visible to your friend kitchens and to members of clubs you've joined, who can react with 🤤. Unposted cooks, and your private notes, stay within your household. Photos you take at a step while cooking stay with that step: they appear with the recipe for anyone who can already see it (your household, friends you've shared it with, or people you send a share link to). Cook-mode timers and in-progress cooks are kept on your phone only. Clubs show a monthly leaderboard of members' posted cooks and reactions. If another kitchen saves your recipe, Supper keeps a link to the original so it can credit you ("Saved by N kitchens").
Supper+ purchases
Supper+ is sold through Apple's App Store; we never see your payment details. When you subscribe, the app sends Apple's signed receipt to our server so we can verify it and unlock Supper+ for your household. We store the product, an Apple transaction ID, and the expiry date.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no analytics trackers, no sale or sharing of your data with anyone else.
- No access to your contacts, location, or anything beyond what you explicitly capture into the app.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account any time in the app (Add tab → Delete account). If you're the last member of your household, the household and all its recipes and share links are permanently deleted with it.
